Behind the scenes, however, is a powerful encryption engine, the Simple Encryption Platform. This SEP provides the strong encryption capability and automatically handles complex functions such as managing encryption keys, managing secured communications channels and user authentication.
The Secured eMail solution consists of a client application running on the endpoint computer, and the central SEP Server and Management Console. The SEP is a module-based system that provides a platform for organizations to deploy security services as required. Once Secured eMail has been installed, you can choose when and if to deploy other modules such as USB encryption or file/folder encryption. Secured eMail can be used in conjunction with the Outbound Content Compliance module Secured eControl to provide full data leak prevention
Strongest security
Secured eMail is based on endpoint-to-endpoint encryption concepts and uses system SKG for generating and handling keys. Communication between the client and server is secured through an encrypted SSL tunnel. Once an email has been sent or opened, the key used to establish the secured communication channel is discarded and no longer exists on the client computer.
Regulatory compliance
Strong FIPS-certified AES 256 encryption complies with the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX), GLBA, HIPAA Hitech, FTC Red Flag Rules and many others. Security policies are automatically enforced for all users, and detailed reporting of user actions provides a comprehensive audit trail.
Send to anyone capability
Organizations can have secured communications with external parties without requiring them to purchase software. Receivers of a secured email can download a free Reader to open encrypted emails. The full version of the Reader provides continuous secured communications. The Reader can be integrated into the receiver’s email client so encrypted emails can be opened and replied to securely.
Secured communications channels
Secured eMail establishes a secured channel between the sender and receiver. The channel is created with the identities of the sender and receiver and a shared secret or password. Once a secured channel has been established the client software maintains it. The next time an email is received from the sender, the encrypted content is automatically opened without needing to re-verify the shared secret or password.
Any computer, any email service
Secured eMail automatically synchronizes your settings, secured groups and passwords to the central server so you can log in and use Secured eMail on any computer in the network. The receiver can access the secured content from any email service. The encrypted content is sent using the MIME layer as an attachment to the wrap mail, allowing the user to access the email from anywhere including public mail services such as Gmail and Hotmail..
Automatic data compression
Data is automatically compressed up to 5 to 1, thereby increasing storage capacity and transmission speeds.
Data content reporting
The Simple Encryption Platform provides central management, control and reporting for administrators. The SEP uses Global Objects Synchronization allowing the intelligent client to communicate with the SEP manager for real time reporting of data movements and user actions. The SEP can run on a virtual server (VMWare).
Brute force protection
Built in brute force protection system protects the inherent encryption methodology against professional hackers.
Key management
Key management has traditionally been an issue with encryption solutions and expensive. Secured eMail is a fully automated solution. EPM Stealth keys are automatically generated and synchronized between server and client, so there is no need for manual key management.
