MindTerm is a powerful and easy to use secure remote access client that implements the SSH1 and SSH2 protocols. It is written in Java and is available both as a stand-alone application for endusers and as a library component which can be embedded by OEM customers in third-party applications and web pages where it can be downloaded as an applet.

- Ability to connect through standard HTTP (with basic or NTLM authentication), Socks4 and Socks5 proxies. MindTerm can also act as a Socks proxy for applications
- Integrated ftp proxy which allows the user to connect with a normal ftp client to an ftp server
- Integrated ftp to sftp proxy which allows the user to connect with a normal ftp client to an sftp enabled SSH-2 server.
- Support for keep-alive packets
- Integrated DNS round robin: tries to contact all IP-addresses specified in DNS until the connection succeeds
- MindTerm supports password authentication, "keyboard interactive", public key authentication, certificates and Kerberos tickets (gssapi-with-mic authentication) for authentication to SSH servers
- Zlib LZ77 (RFC-1950/1951) compression of network traffic
- Supported Ciphers: AES (128, 192, 256 bits), Blowfish, Twofish, Cast-128, 3DES and Arcfour (RC4)
- MindTerm can also act as a telnet client
- MindTerm source code has a well defined API and the MindTerm library is easy to use and has successfully been integrated into many third-party products.
- Contains classes for launching and interacting with commands on the SSH server
- Contains classes for transferring files using both scp and sftp (ssh-filexfer)
- Self-contained with no external dependencies
- Can be built with "ant" (build.xml file included) or imported into an IDE
- Delivered with both Swing and AWT GUI support. The library can also be used completely without a GUI.
- API documentation and examples
- Source code contains a MindTerm light client with a GUI optimized for smaller devices (telephones and PDAs)
