Jericho forum challenge winner 2005

The Jericho Forum is an international forum of IT customer and vendor organisations who recognize that over the next few years, as technology and business continue to align closer to an open, Internet-driven world, the current security mechanisms that protect business information will not match the increasing demands for protection of business transactions and data in the future. The competition awarded its prize to winners, Tomas Olovsson & Jamie Bodley-Scott of AppGate for their paper, "Balancing the Equation; Enterprises moving to the de-perimeterised world need to adopt a ‘core’ mentality based on controlled access to systems."

Common Criteria certification 2008

AppGate has been awarded Common Criteria certification EAL2+ for the AppGate Security Server version 8.0.4. Common Criteria certification is generally a requirement for a product to be used in security fields of governmental agencies or organizations in the finance and health sectors.

FIPS 140-2

AppGate uses FIPS 140-2 Encryption.

The Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) publication 140-2, is a U.S. government computer security standard used to accredit cryptographic modules.

Checkmark

The Checkmark System brings a quality testing and certification service to technology developers and establishes an independent standard on product effectiveness for the benefit of buyers and decision makers. Checkmark standards are continuously being developed to ensure that they are an accurate reflection of real-world situations and technology advances. AppGate was awarded a Checkmark certificate in 2003.

Verva agreement

Verva coordinates the procurement of framework contracts concerning products and services for the entire public sector in the fields of security, information and communications.

One hundred suppliers have approximately 80 framework contracts with Verva and about 1000 retailers are tied to these framework contracts. The purpose of this is to make financial savings through simpler administrative procedures, better terms and lower prices within the IT sector, as well as guaranteeing sound competitive terms in this market.

Since the summer of 2007, AppGate holds its own Verva framework agreement enabling customers within the public sector to purchase AppGate products at the special Verva terms and rates.

AppGate in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant

"AppGate has been added to the Magic Quadrant this year. A relatively small company, AppGate's market share and other criteria were sufficient for inclusion. AppGate also gained consideration because of its unusual implementation, which provides function, look and feel highly similar to a typical SSL VPN but uses SSH as the underlying transport layer. This is acceptable because some Gartner clients are interested in SSH for VPNs."
