At the same time companies are under pressure to open up their networks for access by external users including employees working from home, business partners and customers. Most access control solutions protect the network by controlling who can access the network and which resources they can use. Cryptzone’s AppGate Security Server is a complete identity management and access control system. It uses the principle that until a user’s identity is authenticated and their specific access rights have been confirmed, access is blocked regardless of whether the user is located inside or outside the network. For users who do comply with identity checks and other security criteria, access is restricted to the systems and applications that they are authorized to use. With this access control model it becomes easy to provide secure access to all users and to protect the network from internal and external threats.

Protect against external threats
With the AppGate access control system, security is handled the same way regardless of the user’s location. Therefore all users are authenticated before access is granted. End-to-end encryption of all traffic including login details protects the system from phishing or man-in-middle attacks.
Protect against internal threats
Traditional security solutions create a protective shell around the network but offer no protection once someone has acquired access to the inside. The AppGate access control system can block all access to servers until the user has been authenticated and authorized. If a user is not authorized to use a particular resource, that resource remains invisible, thus minimizing the risks should an unauthorized user manage to connect to the network.
Protection of core systems
Many organizations with mission critical systems run two networks to prevent unauthorized access to critical systems. The AppGate access control system simplifies the task of managing access between these two networks. Up to twelve internal security domains or segments can be created (more with VLANs), and all accesses from users to application servers on these networks will be checked and controlled.
Secure remote access for all users
With the AppGate access control system, employees, home-workers, 3rd party contractors, partners and customers can access the resources they need without any conflicting security or access issues. Roles can be assigned to provide only the services that are relevant to the user’s job and location.
